CBS Inc. Amelia Rix Award Celebrates 22 years of Success Thursday 27 November 6.00 pm at Pavilion on the Park
The Amelia Rix Award celebrates the successes of people with a disability in open employment, recognising and acknowledging their goals, achieved through organisation, determination and perseverance.
The Award is held in memory of the late Amelia Rix who was a long-term participant in the Community Bridging Services (CBS) Inc. Jobnet Employment Program. CBS Inc. established the Award in 2003 for other Jobnet participants with a disability, who show similar determination and spirit to Amelia in finding and keeping a regular job in open employment. Funding for this comes from the Australian Government Department of Social Services (DSS) New Inclusive Employment Program. The Award nominees have not only successfully gained award paying employment but have shown commitment to the community by participating in other volunteer or community work.
There are eight nominees for the 2025 Amelia Rix Award – Trenna Anderson, Shona Fotiou, SG, Leanne Jones, Thomas Lee, Cohen Nuske, Adam Robson and Bruen Mhmood. The winner of the Award will receive $1,200, the runner up $600, and the 3rd prize $300.00. Encouragement Awards will also be presented with $100.
Half of the nominees come from rural regions of SA, i.e. the Riverland, Port Augusta, Whyalla and Port Pirie. The nominees are employed in a variety of fields, including hospitality, customer service, medical receptionist, cleaning and golf course maintenance. Their regular community work includes volunteering with sporting clubs, State Emergency Services events, mental health awareness and food distribution to people in need.
Freddie Brincat (OAM), Founder and Executive Director said “It’s a magical night to acknowledge the nominees’ hard work, commitment and loyalty to their employers. Their success is our success, and it is important to encourage more people to live their dreams and their own life independently. All nominees from the past have gone on to continue to make a positive contribution to their employers and communities. All each person needed, was a start from others who could see their potential and who think more inclusively. It is good to see businesses embracing the skills and positivity employees with a disability bring to their businesses and this is what the Award celebrates.”

Approximately 120 guests will be in attendance, including Nat Cook MP, Minister for Human Services.
CBS Inc. thanks the generous sponsors of the 2025 Amelia Rix Award and acknowledges that without them the Award would not be possible.
Entertainment will be provided on the night by the Beats Crew from Tutti Arts.
