Media Release – More Job Support in Adelaide Hills

The Deputy Mayor Adelaide Hills Council, Dr Jan-Claire Wisdom, will officially open Disability Employment Services provider, Community Bridging Services (CBS) Inc.’s new premises located at Oak Plaza, Shop 2/11 Mount Barker Rd, Stirling SA 5152.

CBS Inc. is a recognised leader in the provision of support for people with a disability in the areas of open employment, further education, the arts and recreation.  An active provider of NDIS supports, CBS Inc. is a not-for-profit organisation receiving funding from the Department of Social Services (DSS), with services in 21 metropolitan Adelaide and rural/remote SA.

Staff support job seekers to plan and be successful, focussing on their strengths and interests through its Jobnet Employment Program. Creativity and innovation are used to support people to reach their full potential. This new office has been opened in response to demand for employment services in the Adelaide Hills region. A focus on building partnerships with job seekers and local businesses, schools and community agencies will be used to develop longer term opportunities to the benefit of both individuals with a disability and business owners.

Freddie Brincat (OAM), Executive Director of CBS Inc. said “It’s preferable that in a diversified society like Australia, we don’t need to go down the path of a growing number of other countries that have implemented quotas on the percentage of people with a disability employed in the workplace. Job seekers with a disability are of all ages, are loyal and reliable potential employees who highly value work. We want to increase support to the Hill’s community in a flexible way, creating more job opportunities, increased social networks and adding to a more diversified workforce.

Jan-Claire Wisdom, Deputy Mayor, Adelaide Hills Council said “I’m honoured to participate in the opening of CBS Inc.’s new Stirling office. Their presence in the Adelaide Hills adds another welcome dimension to diversity and the inclusion of people with a disability in our region.”

“I hope local employers and job seekers will take advantage of this great opportunity to build productive and beneficial partnerships,” said Deputy Mayor Wisdom.

Job seekers are offered full on job support, and employers are offered relevant equipment/workplace modifications and negotiated wage subsidies to help businesses while employees are learning the job.
