Beyond, Making it Happen story 😃Meet Kaitlyn 👋When Kaitlyn started with Beyond she was extremely shy and lacked confidence and didn't have any direction regarding her employment.Through discussion at a meet and greet, it was decided that Kaitlyn would join the Work Discovery, Work Fit and ILS groups at Salisbury. It was also noted Kaitlyn would require travel training to increase her independence using public transport.Through Work Discovery activities Kaitlyn expressed an interest in childcare as she regularly babysat her cousin. During supports Kaitlyn was drawn into group discussions, reluctantly to begin with, but as she became more familiar with her environment, peers and facilitators, Kaitlyn contributed valuable ideas and opinions. Her travel training was also successful as she gained confidence to get herself to Beyond Salisbury as well as to shopping centres. In August 2022, Kaitlyn commenced volunteering at Lutheran Care Family Zone Creche Ingle Farm (which she continues with to this date), then in January 2023 Kaitlyn did work experience at Quench Café, Modbury. CBS Inc. has received positive feedback from both placements’ supervisors. In January 2024, Kaitlyn commenced studying Cert III in Early Childhood Education and Care through Australian Childhood Education and Care. Facilitators supported Kaitlyn through the application process. To coincide with her studies, Kaitlyn changed from group supports to 1:1 Mentoring during which facilitators provide Kaitlyn with assistance to stay on task, read resources and meet time frames for assignments. Kaitlyn was required to source a placement for her studies to complete 160 hours. Through support with research during her mentoring sessions, Kaitlyn secured a placement at Blue Skies Childcare Centre, Modbury North.Find out more on our CBS Inc. Beyond.
